Why do malaria vaccines not offer long-term protection?

A study explains that the T helper cells exclusively react with the protein sequence of administered malaria vaccine strain and do not show any cross-reactivity with the other naturally occurring pathogen variants. Thus, the natural infections with different variants offer little protection against malaria, and the vaccination effect lasts only for a short time.
